WSJ Editorial: Trump Serves a McDonald’s Happy Meal

President Trump pulled off a campaign coup in 2024 when he visited a McDonald’s restaurant, donned an apron, and worked the french fry corner. He used the fast-food chain for another useful purpose on Monday as he spoke to franchise owners about rolling back the destructive Obama joint-employer rule.

The President’s purpose at the McDonald’s Impact Summit in Washington, D.C., was to show his concern for making life affordable for Americans. But the biggest cheer came when he talked about how he had stopped “a mortal threat to the franchise business model by terminating the infamous Obama joint-employer rule” during his first term.
